PHOTOS OF 2021: Chilliwack Progress photojournalist shares memorable images of 2021

Two-year-old Ivy McLeod laughs while playing with Lucky the puppy outside their Chilliwack home on June 10, 2021. Ivy is a congenital bilateral amputee – her arms were not formed correctly while in the womb. There’s no official name for it, so it’s typically known as a “limb difference” because her limbs are different than what most people have. On April 6, the same day that Ivy’s mother Vanessa put the call out on social media in search of a puppy born with a limb difference for the family, little Lucky was born just six minutes away. They brought her home on June 1. (Jenna Hauck/ Chilliwack Progress)Two-year-old Ivy McLeod laughs while playing with Lucky the puppy outside their Chilliwack home on June 10, 2021. B.C. was hit hard this year with atmospheric rivers, a heat dome and bitterly cold winter temperatures – all during an ongoing pandemic.

Chilliwack was no exception to any of those newsmakers, but a lot of other stories made it into the pages of The Progress as well.

Here’s a look back at some of those natural disasters, plus other memorable images captured this year by photojournalist Jenna Hauck that illustrate community stories found only here in Chilliwack.
