Just days after the list of B.C.'s top 10 auto crime offenders was released, police arrested one of their top suspects in Abbotsford.
The top 10 list was released on Friday, March 28 by the Integrated Municipal Auto Crime Team (IMPACT) as part of a media event to kick off Auto Crime Enforcement Month in B.C.
Shaun Darryl Bolko, 32, was wanted on a warrant issued by Upper Fraser Valley RCMP for failure to comply and possession of a stolen vehicle.
He was arrested – for the outstanding warrant and breaching his conditions – by Abbotsford Police on Sunday, March 30 with another man in the vicinity of a stolen Ford F-250.
Ford F-Series trucks were the most stolen vehicle in B.C. in 2013.
Bolko has 15 criminal charges dating back to 2001, mainly in Chilliwack for offences such as assault, impaired driving, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.
Insp. Peter Jadis, head of Impact, said he hopes Bolko's arrest sends a message to the remaining nine on the top 10 list and to would-be auto thieves everywhere.
He said the list is a highly effective initiative, with 95 of the posted 100 wanted offenders arrested in previous years.
