A fire broke out in a Chilliwack barn in the early morning hours of Feb. 10.
Crews with the Chilliwack Fire Department were called to the blaze in the 48000-block of Prairie Central Road around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday.
“On arrival, fire crews encountered heavy flames and smoke venting from a barn and immediately determined the fire would be defensive,” said assistant chief Andy Brown in a press release.
Fire crews called for a second alarm, meaning more manpower was needed to fight the blaze.
“(Firefighters) worked quickly to perform an exterior attack on the fire while securing a water supply to bring the fire under control, preventing fire spread and exposure damage to adjacent buildings.”
There were no firefighter, civilian or livestock injuries.
About 30 firefighters from Halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to the blaze, the Chilliwack Fire Department stated, adding that the cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
