New video of Vedder Bridge replacement project released by Chilliwack

With soaring aerial shots, and time-lapse photography, the video covers the bridge project

Funding from three levels of government smoothed the way for the new $12.5 million Vedder Bridge to be built in Chilliwack.

Now a just released video by Inmist Media House commemorates the process of replacing the old 1947 bridge with a brand-new steel-arch bridge structure with enhanced lighting and wider lanes.

With soaring drone shots, archival material and time-lapse photography, the video briefly covers the scope and breadth of the bridge replacement project.

The cost of a two-minute video was shared between the City of Chilliwack and Emil Anderson.

Coun. Ken Popove asked in council chambers if the cost of the video was “covered in the budget,” and was told by Engineering deputy director Rod Sanderson that the costs were indeed covered by the project funds, and shared on a fifty-fifty basis.

“This video celebrates the completion of the new Vedder Bridge and recognizes the important role it plays in our community,” according to the city website.

Emil Anderson Construction was selected by City of Chilliwack to lead the design-build team two years ago, and the $12.5 million bridge with steel arches and wider lanes was completed in August 2017.

The new bridge is the ninth one to be built over the Vedder River.
