New heritage action plan on the agenda for AGM

Chilliwack’s history and the new heritage action plan are on the agenda Nov. 7 at the Royal Hotel.

Karen Stanton, director of long range planning for the City of Chilliwack, and Coun. Sue Knott will be guest speakers at the Heritage Chilliwack Society’s annual general meeting on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Royal Hotel.

“I am excited to see the positive changes that our local government is making to manage Chilliwack’s heritage assets,” said Laura Reid, president of Heritage Chilliwack Society. “By acknowledging and understanding our past we can make appropriate decisions and find creative solutions while moving into the future.”

Folks will hear about the city’s newly formed heritage advisory committee, the heritage action plan, the community engagement process and the mandate of the committee.A wine and cheese social will follow.

The AGM is at 7 p.m. with registration starting at 6:30 p.m at the Royal Hotel. New members are encouraged to attend. For more heritagechilliwack@gmail.com or 604-828-5286.
