City of Chilliwack is reminding people that Mt. Thom hiking trails are still closed for repairs.

Access to the popular Mt. Thom trail system was shut down in the wake of “several bank failures and trail collapses.”

But some people have been accessing it despite the yellow safety tape.

“Please help crews by respecting trail closures. Ignoring trail closures creates unsafe conditions,” according to city officials.

Equipment was on-site this week repairing the trail damage.

For updates on affected city services see the list of facility and trail closures.

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve is closed due to high water.

At the Browne Creek Nature Reserve contractors are on-site to clean up debris.

On the Vedder Rotary Trail, the south side trails are closed, while north side trails are open from Vedder Park to Hopedale only.

The Experience the Fraser Trail is open.
