Heavy smoke and flames were visible when firefighters arrived to extinguish a hotel fire in the 8100-block of Young Road.

Chilliwack Fire Department crews from two firehalls were called out at about midnight on Oct. 22 to the structure fire.

"On arrival fire crews were met with heavy smoke and flames venting out a front door and main window of one of the units within the two-storey motel building," said Mike Bourdon, assistant fire chief.

Fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control, limiting fire damage to the unit involved.

Four suites sustained minor smoke and heat damage.

"Occupants within the building safely evacuated and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries," he added.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire officials.
