Residents of Cultus Lake Park, Chilliwack, and FVRD Electoral Area H, have until Aug. 5 to weigh in on the potential for mixed-use redevelopment of the Village Centre.
“Cultus Lake Park is at the beginning stage of planning the redevelopment and we wish to invite you to share your input,” according to the letter dated June 14, sent to residents on behalf of the Village Centre planning and development committee.
The online survey went live this week to gauge opinion on the introduction of diverse housing and land-use options as part of the vision for a redeveloped Village Centre, where the existing commercial plaza is located.
“The redevelopment of the Village Centre could see local commercial uses and community space at ground-level, and multi-family residential use above,” reads the letter to the community. “The selected design would embrace the character of the community, providing an attractive destination for both residents and visitors to the community, while also increasing the range of affordable housing options.”
The PlanCultus bylaw was developed and adopted by Cultus Lake Park Board in 2017, and the bylaw is a guiding document broken up into seven themes, with distinct goals for each theme that support the larger community vision.
The ‘growth and development’ theme focuses on introduction of diverse housing options for the redevelopment of the Village Centre.
The survey opened June 14 and closes at midnight on August 5.
