A male in his 20s is dead after a serious motor vehicle collision overnight Saturday on Yale Road near Little Mountain in Chilliwack.

The Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Yale near Quarry Road at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 28.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said Mounties were supported by the Chilliwack Fire Department and the BC Ambulance Services at the scene.

“Officers located the occupant of one vehicle who had succumbed to their injuries,” Rail said Monday.

“The collision remains under investigation by the RCMP and the BC Coroner Service.”

A number of people in the area reported hearing a large bang at the time of the crash.

Rail could not say whether there was a driver in the second vehicle or if it was parked, or if any other persons were involved in the accident at all.

A spokesperson for the BC Coroner Service could not elaborate on the death of the male described to be in his 20s.

“Due to the privacy of the deceased, per the Coroners Act and privacy legislation, we do not confirm or release identity,” Andy Watson said Monday.

RCMP ask anyone who might have witnessed anything or have any information to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
