Major League 2 Sports Pub is hoping to add a third patio to the Sardis operation this summer to bring its outdoor patio total to more than 300 seats.

“Some additional noise and traffic” could result but it is “not expected to cause a significant disturbance,” according to the staff report in the March 15 agenda.

Proposed capacity for the new patio area is 104 seats, bringing the occupancy total of combined indoor and outdoor areas to 445 seats for Major League 2.

The patio application was received by council last week at city hall. Council voted to schedule a public information meeting for April 5 to collect public input.

Last summer the area now proposed for a new patio was approved for a temporary patio. The current application under consideration would make that temporary patio arrangement, permanent.

“A noise complaint was recently received in September 2021 but was related to an early waste collection and not noise associated with the outdoor patio,” according to the staff report.

Back in 2018, the pub saw 30 seats added to a back patio.

“At that time, the existing patio could accommodate up to 110 people and the city had no record of any formal complaints,” the report continued. “Since the time of the expansion, the city has record of one formal noise complaint.”

The new patio application came from Major League 2 Taphouse and Sports Pub, at 45768 Gaetz Street.

A new apartment building under construction to the south of the pub could result in future complaints from residents, the report added.

Total occupancy for the sports pub breaks down to: 137 seats inside, with 140 on patio 1, 64 on patio 2, and 104 on patio 3.
