Chilliwack RCMP are reminding residents to empty their mailboxes regularly following a spate of mail thefts.

This holiday season has seen an increase of mail thefts in comparison to last year, police say. They’re asking people to pick up their mail on a daily basis to protect themselves. They’re also requesting people to report suspicious vehicles that look out place, at or near a community mail box, and if possible, obtain a license plate number.

“Family and friends take great care in sending gifts to loved ones, so we hope everyone will help ensure the safety of those packages by diligently checking their mail every day,” says Constable Cynthia Kershaw.
