Chilliwack RCMP swept down on a home at Yale and Williams Friday afternoon, after receiving reports of a man with a knife.

The home is well known to both police and neighbours. It was an unlicensed “recovery house” until recently shut down by the city.

Since then, neighbours say, it’s not unusual to see up to 50 people coming and going in an evening.

Multiple police units responded to the call and occupants of the home – some in handcuffs – were soon lining the street.

The scene came as little surprise to many of the people who stopped to ask what was going on.

As the occupants began shuffling off – some carrying a few belongings – a City of Chilliwack bylaw officer moved in.
