Chilliwack RCMP are looking for anyone who might have seen a hit and run Wednesday evening left a young cyclist with minor injuries.
The driver fled the scene, but not before asking the cyclist to help free the bike that had become entangled under his vehicle.
The incident happened at around 4:10 p.m. on Watson Road.
The youth was on his bicycle, on the sidewalk, when he was struck by a vehicle emerging from a townhouse complex. The youth was knocked onto the hood of the car and suffered minor injuries. The driver attempted to drive away but ran over the bicycle, causing it to become stuck under the vehicle.
The driver, after having the victim assist in freeing the bicycle, departed eastbound on Watson Road. The vehicle was described as a newer four door import, possibly dark in colour.
"The driver was kind enough to offer money to the victim for the damages to the bicycle, however he left without exchanging information and the police would like to speak with him regarding the incident," says Constable Cynthia Kershaw.
An elderly female stopped to help the victim and gave him a ride home, but her information was not obtained either. The Police would like to speak with this Good Samaritan, the driver and anyone else who might have witnessed the incident.
