Yukon, the Siberian Husky stolen from the SPCA shelter in Chilliwack, has been found.

Skway Road residents spotted Yukon walking along Wolfe Road and, recognizing him from media reports, called police.

"This is a good example of the community being the 'eyes and ears' of the police and helping resolve community issues of every level," RCMP Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen said.

Yukon is now headed for a home with the family who had adopted him just days before he was taken from the SPCA shelter on Aug. 6

SPCA staff arrived at the facility on Hopedale Road at that time to find one of the outdoor shelters broken into — and Yukon nowhere in sight.

Police put out a news release and photo, which was picked up media outlets all over B.C. and beyond.

Yukon was originally picked up as a stray walking along the Agassiz Bridge on Aug. 2 and taken to the SPCA shelter in Chilliwack.
