A big cash donation to B.C. Children’s Hospital is back in the right hands after a Good Samaritan found it on a New Westminster street.

A man called police after finding $1,500 in a box, according to a tweet by the New Westminster Police department.

Turns out, the money belonged to a local pizza shop owner, who had been on his way to donate the money, but had forgot it on the roof of his car.

It’s not uncommon to be carrying around large sums of cash during the holidays, according to RCMP.

In Coquitlam, three envelopes full of cash have been found in the last few months, leading Mounties to urge people to keep cash secured in a purse or wallet.

As for the man who returned the cash, there was only one way for police to say thanks: “Pizza pie man gives kind resident free pizza!”
