Girl hurt in greenhouse machinery accident

A greenhouse worker was airlifted to hospital Friday morning after an accident in a Chilliwack-area greenhouse.

A 17-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after an accident at a Chilliwack-area greenhouse.

The greenhouse is in the 10,900 block of Bell Road, and the girl was working close to a machine that sorts trays.

Somehow, her legs got tied up in the machine, and she suffered injuries to both legs and her abdomen.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.

The case is being handled by WorkSafe BC, and RCMP Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen says it is not a criminal matter.
