Garbage truck T-bones semi at Chilliwack intersection

Chilliwack firefighters use the Jaws of Life to free a garbage truck driver after the vehicle collided into the side of a semi-trailer at the intersection of Lickman Road and Progress Way Monday afternoon.



One man was taken to hospital Monday afternoon after a garbage truck T-boned a semi at the intersection of Lickman Road and Progress Way in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack Fire Department crews were on scene and used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver's side door off the garbage truck to extract the driver.

BC Paramedics put the man into a neck brace, but he appeared to be awake and attentive as he was put on a stretcher.

The driver of the semi appeared to be uninjured.

The garbage truck driver was taken to hospital around 2:30 p.m. and crews began cleaning up the site. Vehicle traffic at the intersection was somewhat delayed but was not stopped.
