If your regular garbage collection day falls on Friday, place everything on the curb as usual.

City of Chilliwack was reminding residents this week to go ahead and put their recycling and waste materials out on Remembrance Day the way they normally would.

Emterra staff will be pausing collection for one hour starting at 11 a.m. on the streets of Chilliwack, to "honour the sacrifices of our armed forces," said city officials.

Last year city council discussed what to do about garbage collection on Remembrance Day — after fielding a handful of complaints from Chilliwack veterans.

Councillors Chris Kloot and Sue Attrill told council at the time they had been approached by vets who said they wished council would take a stand by cutting out the Nov. 11 curbside collection.

That Emterra staff should pause for one hour was the decision of council, after a vote of 5-2 in December 2015.
