A fundraiser has been launched for a Chilliwack man who suffered a head injury following a quadding incident.

Mike Visscher was riding a quad outside his Greendale home on the morning of Dec. 4 when the accident happened. He was taken to Abbotsford Regional Hospital with head trauma.

“On Dec. 7 Mike was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital as they have a dedicated brain injury ward. They are assessing the extent of his injuries and the damage to the brain and brain stem,” wrote Heather Van Humbeck who started the GoFundMe account on Dec. 9 for Visscher and his family.

On Friday, Dec. 10, more than $6,500 had been raised in less than one day.

He has a wife, Brittany, and three young children.

Money raised will go towards costs such as travelling between Chilliwack and New Westminster, hotel stays, household bills and other expenses.

“We have no idea when/if he will be able to return to work to support his family,” Van Humbeck said.

She described Visscher as kind, funny, outgoing and loveable.

“Mike is an all around amazing person with the best laugh ever. Mike loves spending his time with his family and friends, he enjoys being outside playing with his kids and taking the family to the cabin.”
