The ‘Fraser Valley Marches for Women’ event is cancelled for 2020.

Organizers say safety and weather are the reasons.

“After reviewing the forecast and the current weather situation we have decided to cancel this year’s march,” co-organizer Patti MacAhonic of Ann Davis Transition Society said.

The march for women’s rights would would have seen people walking from ADTS offices to city hall for speeches at noon on Jan. 18.

”With the buildup of snow and rain and slush over top it will make for icy conditions and be unsafe for walking,” MacAhonic said in the cancellation notice.

The event will resume in 2021.

“Thank you for your understanding and we will see you next year,” MacAhonic said.
