Cultus Lake Park Board is asking residents for input on what to do about the challenge of foreshore buoys.

Changes need to be made to make it safer and more efficient to moor boats on the popular recreational lake, say officials.

“Many are too close to each other, the docks and the swim areas,” according to a release by CLPB.

The registration process to date has included mapping the locations via GPS, and trying to bring boat owners into compliance with some new rules.

“The Cultus Lake Park Board is now asking residents of Cultus Lake to attend a public meeting and to provide input on how to solve the buoy challenges,” reads the release.

It’s been an ongoing issue since the Park Board undertook a process to register all foreshore buoys in Cultus Lake.

“We want to engage with residents to come up with ideas on how the foreshore buoys can be reorganized to make mooring boats and boating a safer, more efficient and pleasant experience for everyone, with the least amount of disruption to the community,” said CLPB chair David Renwick.

A public meeting is Aug. 23 at the Cultus Community Hall at 7 p.m., 4220 Columbia Valley Highway

Free parking for the meeting will be available in Parking Lot A from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Those unable to attend can e-mail comments or ideas to: reception@cultuslake.bc.ca by noon on September 1, 2017.
