Mission Fire Rescue Services, BC Ambulance Services and Mission RCMP were all on scene on Tuesday night (July 6) after reports of an explosion at the Diamond Head Motor Inn, located at 32550 Logan Ave., in Mission.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had already been contained by residents of the Inn.

The building was quickly evacuated and there were no injuries to report.

“It was quite an explosive event in that one contained suite,” said assistant fire chief Nick Rychkun, “It was enough to blow the window out.”

There was no one in the suite at the time of the blaze and there is no obvious cause.

“It remains undetermined right now, it is still under fire investigation.”

Rychkun said the fire “went up the wall to the roof, but didn’t escape the suite.”
