UPDATE: Vehicle crash into BC Hydro pole at Prest Roundabout in Chilliwack leads to power outage

Power for 608 customers in Ryder Lake and Promontory estimated to be back on by midnight

*Update: By 6:31 p.m. BC Hydro reported that power was restored to about half of the customers who lost power earlier. At that time 608 customers were without power.

The motor vehicle incident at the roundabout at Prest and Bailey roads Friday afternoon has left more than 1,200 BC Hydro customers without power.

A post on the “Chilliwack Scanner” Facebook group showed a white sedan into a BC Hydro pole in the centre of the roundabout shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 5)

Chilliwack RCMP were dispatched to the scene to deal with traffic, and the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to the crash.

BC Hydro reported that as of 4:07 p.m. 1,236 customers were without power including most of Ryder Lake and part of Promontory.

BC Hydro estimates the power will be back on by midnight.
