Dr. Gabor Maté will speak in Chilliwack on March 3. The event sold out in a matter of hours

He's one of the most preeminent voices on drug addiction, and he's coming to Chilliwack.

Dr. Gabor Mate will speak at Chilliwack secondary school on March 3, hosted by the Chilliwack Local Action Team of the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaborative.

And despite the event selling out twice already, there is still a chance to see him speak. Organizers have announced that on Friday, Feb. 17 at noon, another 150 spots will be released.

It was made possible by the school district's creativity in making sure the most people possible would be able to take advantage of the event. Tickets are being held for guests through a ticketing website called Eventbrite, however, a minimum $10 cash donation is payable at the door.

Those who have reserved their space will need to be in line with their printed ticket promptly at 6 p.m. to claim them. All unclaimed tickets will be sold to walk-ins. Organizers have asked that anyone who snapped up a ticket but now is unable to go, visits Eventbrite to cancel their ticket so others don't miss out.

The evening will include a book signing session and a question and answer period.

All money raised will go to the Chilliwack Youth Health Centre, which offers free medical and mental health services to youth ages 12 to 26.
