‘Crack shack cracked,’ police say

Chilliwack RCMP say they busted a "very active crack shack" last week in the 9300-block Fletcher Street.

Chilliwack RCMP say they busted a “very active crack shack” last week in the 9300-block Fletcher Street.

Three Chilliwack men, age 19, 20 and 21, were arrested when police officers from the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Criminal Intelligence Section (CIS) executed a search warrant at about 3:20 p.m. July 20.

Several weapons were located at the residence, and about 82 grams of cocaine and about eight grams of heroin, along with marijuana, hash butter and some yet-to-be-identified pills.

Police said some of the drugs were individually packaged, apparently intended for re-sale.

Police estimated the street value of the cocaine at $8,200 and the heroin at $1,500.

The weapons included a touch stun taser, swords, knives, bear spray, a baseball bat and a baton.

Numerous cellphones were also found, along with $2,000 in cash, weigh scales and a shift schedule.

The three men arrested were released on a promise to appear in court on Nov. 22. They were also given conditions not to possess cellphones or weapons, not to communicate with each other, and to abstain from returning to the residence. One of the men had an outstanding warrant.

“This is yet another accomplishment by CRU and CIS to eliminate crack shacks in Chilliwack,” RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth said in a news release.

The police investigation continues.
