An Alberta man faces drug trafficking criminal charges after being pulled over for speeding on Highway 1 this week.
A Mountie with Fraser Valley Traffic Services pulled over a vehicle on April 4 on Highway 1 for speeding, according to the RCMP. Upon dealing with the driver, the officer noted alleged indications of drug trafficking.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 27,500 tables suspected to be opiates.
“Police remain vigilant for drivers who may be transporting illegal narcotics on our streets,” said Const. Melissa Wutke, spokesperson for BC RCMP Traffic Services.
The driver, a 58-year-old male from Alberta, was charged for suspected drug trafficking and held in custody for court.
