Two Chilliwack Progress journalists and two sales staff were honoured at the 2020 Ma Murray awards Saturday night in a virtual presentation ceremony.
Hosted by the B.C. and Yukon Community News Media Association, the awards honour and celebrate the work of community journalists across the province for advertising, photography, writing and overall newspaper excellence.
Newly named editor Paul Henderson won gold for the Columnist Award sponsored by Aberdeen Publishing. This is the winning column.

Progress reporter and photographer Jenna Hauck won silver in the category of Photo Essay for her series of pictures on baby yoga.

Two Progress sales representatives, Maureen Tempel and Sharon Harmsen, were honoured with Silver Quill Awards for 25-or-more years of service to the industry.
Locally the Hope Standard received silver in Newspaper Excellence in its circulation category, the Abbotsford News won three awards, including two golds and one silver, while Kevin Mills at the Mission City Record one a gold for spot news.
Overall, more than 20 Black Press Media journalists and publications received Ma Murray awards this year.
