Three of Chilliwack’s Parent Advisory Councils will be reimbursed by the provincial government for playground equipment recently purchased.

The B.C. Education Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will be reimbursing three PACs to a total of $62,500.

F.G. Leary elementary’s PAC will receive $7,500; McCammon traditional will receive $25,000; and Tyson elementary will receive $30,000.

The funding is part of $2.4 million to reimburse PACs throughout the province that have recently purchased playground equipment with funds they raised.

Playground grants, worth $20,000, were cut from the provincial budget in 2010, which required PACs to raise the necessary funds if their playgrounds needed replacing.

The funds will be distributed to PACs through the school district.
