One of the Chilliwack men who was charged nearly two years ago in connection with an armed robbery spree from Mission to Seabird Island intends to plead guilty to most of those charges.

Darius Calvin Ray Commodore and Jaimal Brovil Mclaren were arrested back in June 2019, several days after Mission and Agassiz RCMP detachments responded to multiple reports of two men brandishing firearms and robbing convenience stores in Lake Errock and Seabird Island using a stolen Jeep.

Just before 9:30 a.m. on June 10, 2019, Mission RCMP responded to reports that two men had brandished firearms while speeding away in a red Jeep after allegedly robbing a general store in Lake Errock.

Half an hour later, Agassiz RCMP received reports of a robbery at the Sqéwqel Gas Bar in Seabird Island. There were reports that the men had fired rounds into the air at some point during the robbery.

The two men were tracked down by an RCMP police dog after they abandoned the vehicle near Agassiz. One was found hiding in a “swampy area” and the other in a garden shed.

The pair were charged with 12 offences, including: pointing a firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm, disguising face with intent to commit offence, and uttering threats, among others.

Commodore is scheduled to plead guilty to 10 of the 12 charges he originally faced on April 6 in provincial court in Chilliwack. Mclaren is set for disposition on only a breach charge on March 30.

The charge of robbery using a firearm comes with a minimum sentence of five years in jail for the first offence.
