A Chilliwack man sentenced in 2018 to seven years in jail for sexual touching a young person, and released after 10.5 months, pleaded guilty to violating conditions of his release by contacting someone under 16 in Maple Ridge.

Corey Bryan James Neyrinck, who once ran for the Chilliwack School Board, was molesting more than one girl for years until a victim finally told students at school about it, according to Crown during a hearing in BC Supreme Court prior to his 2018 sentencing.

He was found with 2,326 images and 307 videos that met the legal definition of child pornography.

Neyrinck ran for Chilliwack School Board in 2013 receiving 54 votes. He also served as vice president of the local District Parent Advisory Council.

Neyrinck spent 1,374 days in pre-trial custody, mostly because of delays he caused, which included firing or otherwise losing six lawyers.

When it came time to sentencing, with the standard 1.5-to-one day of time served, he was given credit for 2,061 days leaving 16 months and seven days to serve.

He was released on Dec. 4, 2018 with a plan to live in a halfway house in Surrey. He is now alleged to have contacted someone under the age of 16, in violation of his release conditions, on Dec. 1, 2020 in Maple Ridge.

Neyrinck was originally facing two counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order, one from Feb. 11, 2021 the other from Dec. 1, 2020, both in Maple Ridge.

He was scheduled to go to trial on March 1 in Chilliwack provincial court, but he pleaded guilty to the Dec. 1 charge.

The court heard that he changed his name to David Corey Johnson, and that is now listed as an alias connected to his name on Court Services Online.

Neyrinck is scheduled for a sentencing hearing in Chilliwack on May 3.
