Chilliwack-Hope MP Mark Strahl congratulates interim Conservative leader

MP looks forward to working with Candice Bergen ‘as part of a united Conservative caucus and party’

Chilliwack-Hope MP Mark Strahl joined others in caucus yesterday in congratulating Candice Bergen, the new interim leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Conservative Members of Parliament voted 73-45 on Wednesday (Feb. 2) to remove Erin O’Toole as Conservative Party leader.

Strahl put out the following statement after the vote:

“I would like to congratulate Candice Bergen for being elected as the new interim leader of Canada’s Conservatives and Her Majesty’s Official Opposition.

“I look forward to working with her as part of a united Conservative caucus and party.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Honourable Erin O’Toole and his family for their service to the Conservative Party and to Canada,” Strahl concluded.

The upcoming leadership race among Conservatives will be the third in five years, and Bergen has said her priority will unifying the party.
