Chilliwack businesses encouraged to report crimes

Chilliwack RCMP are wondering if there are any more homes or businesses that have been victims of a recent spate of minor vandalism.

Chilliwack RCMP are wondering if there are any more homes or businesses that have been victims of a recent spate of minor vandalism.

Between May 26 and May 28, 2012, several businesses and one residence had rocks thrown through windows and at vehicles in the parking lot, police say.

In the 9000 block of Young Road a Dental Clinic had a small rock thrown through the window.  In the 45900 block of Alexander Avenue a residence had two side windows smashed by rocks.  Valley Toyota located at 8750 Young Road had rocks thrown through two windows of vehicles parked on the lot and Robertson Elementary located at 46106 Southlands Drive reported that several windows of the school had been broken.

All incidents appeared to have happened during the night hours and no entry was gained into any of the buildings.  As a result of police patrolling the area and conducting neighbourhood inquiries other nearby businesses were identified as fallen victim to broken windows, however those incidents were not reported to the police.

"Business owners are encouraged to call the police to report these kinds of incidents," says Corporal Tammy Hollingsworth.  "In this case, there was more than one business affected.  We have a better chance of linking the incidents and potentially finding the person or persons responsible for these senseless crimes, big or small, if all incidents are reported to the police."

If you have any information on these crimes or any other crime, you are asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
