Bus riders are being asked to forget almost everything they know about existing route numbers in the Chilliwack Transit System.

“Several transit routes are being renumbered in the Chilliwack Transit System effective March 27,” according to the release by BC Transit on Feb. 25.

BC Transit is getting the word out now about which bus route numbers are set to change in a month’s time.

The changes are being implemented to avoid confusion between the Central Fraser Valley Transit System and the Chilliwack Transit System, which have duplicate route numbers.

“While this has not been an issue to this point, with the introduction of new automatic vehicle-location technology being installed on buses throughout the province, the renumbering of some routes is necessary,” according to BC Transit.

While route names will stay the same, the numbers will change. It’s hoped that will put an end to the regional confusion for transit users trying to plan trips between multiple systems.

Riders can find out more from temporary signage being posted at bus stops until the permanent signage is installed.

The new route numbers are:
