Chilliwack break-and-enter suspect back in custody after violating release order

A 38-year-old man was originally arrested in mid-May in connection with three pharmacy break-ins

A Chilliwack man is back in custody after allegedly violating terms of a release order.

Thirty eight year old Mathew Christopher Nicholls was arrested in the early hours of June 13. An RCMP officer recognized Nicholls, who was riding a bike and trying to evade police in the area of Portage Avenue and Williams Street.

Nicholls spent time in custody between May 12 and June 2 after being arrested in connection with three break-and-enters at downtown Chilliwack pharmacies in the 9200-block of Main Street, 45000-block of Yale Road and 45000 block of Market Way.

Back behind bars awaiting his next court appearance, Nicholls faces a long list of charges including three counts of break and enter with intent to commit offence, three counts of disguising face with intent to commit offence, two counts of fail to comply with release order, fail to comply with probation, and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
