A Chilliwack man is facing two assault charges in connection with a vicious downtown stabbing last fall.
A 43-year-old Chilliwack man was stabbed in the upper chest while out on a walk with his dog on Nov. 11, according to RCMP files.
He was assaulted after he approached a group of young people and asked them to pick up the garbage they dropped.
Charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon have now been laid against Christopher John Nadin, 22, of Chilliwack.
RCMP said the stabbing victim is at home recovering from serious injuries.
"He can't work and is regularly attending doctors and specialist appointments as one of his lungs is not functioning properly," said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth. "It will be a long road to recovery for him, but he is glad to be out of the hospital and alive."
Nadin was released from police custody with conditions and is set to appear in court to face the charges in early 2013.
