The alleged driver of a car that crashed through a stone barrier on Gladys Street in Chilliwack on Thursday morning was later admitted to hospital in mental distress.

RCMP said a call came in at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday with a report that the vehicle had crashed through a barrier at the entrance to Fairfield Park on Gladys Street.

Front-line RCMP officers found the alleged driver at the crash site, a 41-year-old woman of Chilliwack, who was in “obvious mental distress,” according to the police reports.

They transported the woman to hospital, where she was admitted. She was treated for minor injuries.

The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
