Another empty house set on fire

Chilliwack may have a serial-arsonist at work, with three vacant houses set ablaze over the last 10 days.

Another vacant home in Chilliwack has been hit by arson.

At 3:25 a.m. Friday morning firefighters were called out to the 9000 block of College Street, where they found a single-story house fully aflame.

The house was completely destroyed, but there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

Fire investigators said it was was deliberately set, making it the third such case in recent weeks.

Two vacant homes, in the 46000 block of First Avenue and the 46000 block of Gore Avenue, were set on fire in the early morning hours of April 22.

Firefighters were able to minimize the damage to those homes.

Investigators from the fire department and police are asking anyone with info to call the RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crimestoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Meanwhile, they're also reminding home owners to communicate with their insurance provider if a home is going to be vacant for any significant length of time.
