Next week residents will be putting out their Christmas trees, cut in sections, for curbside collection.

Free “Christmas Tree Composting” is a 10-day window where curbside customers can have the tree sections picked up between Jan. 4 to Jan. 14 on their regular collection day.

The request is that the bare trees be cut in to four-foot long, four-foot wide sections, up to a maximum of 55 lbs (25 kg) per section, with all tinsel and decorations removed.

“Please do not place whole Christmas trees in your Green Cart,” according to the city notice, or in a bag.

Another option is dropping off the trees, up to four per vehicle, at the Parr Road Green Depot until Jan. 8, every day but Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food or cash donation to Salvation Army appreciated, but not required at depot.
