Two men have pleaded guilty to numerous offences following a 2024 motor vehicle collision that left a pedestrian dead after he was dragged for several blocks.

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit in the 13400-block of 105 Avenue around 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2024. The pedestrian was found several blocks away, with severe injuries. He died at the scene.

According to a Black Press freelancer at the scene, the male was dragged for several blocks along University Drive to the 13200 block of 109 Avenue, where he was found.

"Witnesses described seeing a red Ford Mustang strike the pedestrian and leave the scene without stopping to render assistance. Surrey RCMP were able to quickly locate the suspect vehicle and its three occupants," noted an earlier Surrey RCMP release.

The three occupants were taken into police custody, and following an investigation by the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), two of the men arrested have pleded guilty.

Gaganpreet Singh and Jagdeep Singh pleaded guilty in Surrey provincial court on Jan. 6 and Feb. 7, respectively, to the dangerous operation of a conveyance, failing to stop after hitting a person, and interfering with a dead body.

Both men have been released from custody until their May sentencing hearing.
