CX-70 or CX-90? It's a question on the minds of many considering the gas-savings and flexibility a plug-in hybrid vehicle offers drivers here in Chilliwack.

As you weigh your options, one of the first considerations may well come down to what kind of seating and cargo room you need.

With its third row of seating, the CX-90 has been the go-to choice for those needing seating beyond the standard five, but with the efficiency, flexibility and style not typically found in a mini-van. Its SUV aesthetics set the CX-90 apart while letting you easily move family and friends.

Conversely, the all-new CX-70 has quickly become a popular choice for those without extra seating needs, but who might want greater flexibility in their cargo-carrying capacity: the CX-70 adds rear underfloor storage in place of the CX-90's foldable third row.

Other than that, the vehicles' specs are largely similar, down to their dimensions and many of their features, with optional amenities varying with trim levels.

"At nearly two years old, the CX-90 plug-in hybrid has attracted a lot of attention for its ability to move families efficiently and in style," says Murray Mazda General Manager Chris Emery. "Now, with the CX-70 PHEV, those who rarely need extra seating can instead choose greater flexibility in cargo space, with the same Mazda hybrid technology and appreciated interior features."

A look beyond the carrying capacity

Both the CX-90 and CX-70 feature a sophisticated gas/electric 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine, delivering both power and efficiency, along with an electric range of 42 kilometres – more than enough for jaunts to work and school, shopping or hockey practice. At the same time, multiple driving modes and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds keeps you ready for weekend adventures.

An array of sought-after safety features and amenities round out the experience, including heated front seats and a premium BOSE sound system, multiple charging ports and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus convenient features like a power liftgate, keyless entry, and remote engine start. Advanced safety features, such as Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Collision Mitigation, adaptive cruise control and Lane Departure Warning, add to the peace of mind on every drive.
