From an emotional film to enchanting music to gut-bustingly hilarious comedy, October at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre will be filled with unforgettable moments that will leave you breathless! Bones of Crow, Songs for Nobodies, God is a Scottish Drag Queen, Schubertiade and Fall Cornucopia will fill your fall with incredible experiences!

On Oct. 1, the Bones of Crows film will follow Aline as her and her siblings are plunged into a struggle for survival, and how over the next hundred years, Aline and her descendants fight against systemic starvation, racism and sexual abuse – and to build a more just future. Aline’s story enriches our understanding of the past and empowers us to address our collective future.

From Judy Garland to Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Maria Callas, these iconic singers are brought to life through the extraordinary talent of a single performer on Oct. 5. Songs for Nobodies showcases this one-woman tour de force as she seamlessly shifts between characters, embodying both the “nobodies” and the musical legends while being backed by a live band. Songs for Nobodies tells the story about what happens when the stories of these singers touch those of their listeners.

God Is a Scottish Drag Queen 3 is coming to The Centre on Oct. 18, with a comedy show of biblical proportions! God, dressed in a floral power suit, returns to skewer everything from armadillos to Zeus in a hilarious and all new chapter! Loved by Preachers and Atheists alike, this franchise has quickly become one of the most popular one man shows touring today and has received critical acclaim for its non-stop brilliant look at pop culture and humanity through the eyes of a silly, foul mouthed, and very loveable Scottish deity.

Join the Vancouver Chamber Music Society on Oct. 24 for an evening that will pay tribute to Franz Schubert’s body of work as his close circle of friends once used to. Schubertiade will feature a selection of Schubert’s work, from his cherished Trout Quintet, alongside a Lieder selection and other popular pieces. This will be an evening filled with the beauty and emotional depth of Schubert’s work.

On Oct. 26, the Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra returns to The Centre with Fall Cornucopia. This fun-filled evening of music is perfect to celebrate the autumn season! The soprano Crystal Hicks will return and sing among other pieces the well-known Autumn Leaves and Amazing Grace, plus Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, and Glazunov’s Autumn piece from his music of The Seasons.
