From Jan. 16 to 26, fall in love with the beloved world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians when Chilliwack School of Performing Arts (CSOPA) brings The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical to life.
This brilliant adaptation follows Percy Jackson, who discovers that nothing is as it seems as he learns that he is the son of a Greek God. These revelations take him on an adventure that leads him face to face with frightening prophecies, powers he can’t control, and numerous monsters on his tail. He teams up with his friends in an attempt to come to terms with his new lineage and try to find a way to keep everyone he cares about safe.
On Jan. 18, the Chilliwack Player’s Guild will take you to Paris in 1839 with a staged reading of the radio play French Poison.
This story follows Marie Cappelle, from her childhood as an orphan to her marriage to Charles Lafarge and subsequent murder of her husband. French Poison unravels this true crime story on the stage, with a talented cast of actors that will draw you into a mystery that rocked all of Europe when it went to trial
Step into a world of transformative contemporary dance with internationally acclaimed choreographer Marie Chouinard as she returns to British Columbia for the first time in 10 years with two of her most iconic works.
On Feb. 3, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and The Rite of Spring will offer an unforgettable evening as Chouinard’s bold, visceral artistry reimagines two of the most memorable pieces in modern music history.
Set to Claude Debussy’s dreamy and evocative score, Chouinard’s interpretation of Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun transforms a mythical narrative into a mesmerizing exploration of desire, sensuality and the primal elegance of movement. Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring revolutionized music and dance when it premiered in 1913, and Chouinard’s rendition channels its raw, carnal and untamed energy into a visual and physical spectacle.
