A local ski cross athlete will be celebrated in a BIG way next week when Chilliwack Ford invites the community to Reece Howden Day at the dealership!
“Reece is a local kid, born and raised in Chilliwack, who’s achieved a high level of success, and we’d like to celebrate that with him!” says Paul McManus, General Manager at the dealership.
‘Big Rig,’ Reece Howden has won the Youth Winter Olympics, along with multiple World Cup gold medals in ski cross. Through his rookie season, his four gold medals and two silvers earned him the title of Rookie of the Year. In 2021, and again this year, Reece won the coveted Crystal Globe as World Cup Champion for the season.
Reece also made his first appearance at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, where he placed ninth.
The June 10 celebration at Chilliwack Ford kicks off with a live broadcast from 8 a.m. to noon from local radio personality Trevor McDonald, with his Then & Now show. The day will also feature a barbecue and live music from noon to 3 p.m.
“Reece Howden Day aligns with our slogan of ‘Chilliwack Ford is Chilliwack Proud’, and having a community-minded approach,” McManus says. “The celebration runs in conjunction with our community food drive in support of the Chilliwack Salvation Army.
“It will be a big, family-oriented party, with our showroom all decked out with graphics of the different community organizations we work with.”
For as long as they’ve been in the community, the Chilliwack Ford team have shown their appreciation for the community by giving given back to numerous local organizations, including the YMCA, Chilliwack Football Club, Leaders of Tomorrow, Heather’s Hope Chest, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Drive Pink, local sports organizations and many more.
“We encourage families to come down to our showroom on June 10 for autographs and photos with ‘Big Rig,’ and bring a non-perishable food or cash donation for the Salvation Army,” McManus says. “Even if you can’t make it to the party, you can stop by anytime before or after to make a donation.”
To support Reece’s ‘road to success’ leading up to his appearance at the 2022 Olympic games, Chilliwack Ford also gave Reece the use of a brand new 2021 F-150.
