The Honda Civic has long been a cultural touchstone in Canada. It seems just about everyone has owned a Civic – maybe that fondly remembered first car – or had a best friend who did.
Whether you're a long-time fan or coming a little later to the Civic party, you've arrived in time to check out the 2025 Civic Hybrid – and it's definitely come a long way from the Civic of your teens.
After all, even Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has weighed in from behind the wheel.
Even the "sedan" descriptor seems a bit of a misnomer. Available in sport or sport touring trims, the Civic enjoys a stylish, sporty design that seats five, and is as comfortable negotiating winding mountain roads as it is cruising the highway to Vancouver.
Both the Sport and Sport Touring Hybrids feature a 2.0-litre, direct injection, 4-cylinder engine working alongside two electric motors to help produce up to 200 hp and 232 lb.-ft. of torque.
Steering wheel-mounted deceleration paddle selectors let you slow down without using the breaks – like gearing down in a manual transmission vehicle – with the added benefit of increasing regenerative braking which helps recharge the battery.
The Electro Continuously Variable Transmission – or eCVT – brings added fuel efficiency and improved acceleration, while three drive modes on the Sport trim dial in the handling – choose ECON for added fuel efficiency while navigating Chilliwack's local streets, Normal for heading out on the highway, or Sport for a more dynamic experience.
Sport Touring trim drivers have the option of a fourth "Individual" mode to personalize their ride.
