Sardis Falcons claw way to top of 2025 Battle of the East

Sardis Falcons junior boys basketball team went undefeated at home tournament

The Sardis Secondary Falcons Jr. Boys basketball team is reporting an incredible tournament weekend, Jan. 9 - 11.

The Falcons went undefeated at their home tournament, taking down schools Dashmesh, Mark R. Isfeld, Highland, and Abbotsford Senior in the finals to claim the title.

Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Grade 10 Ixara Forstbauer, who led the team in scoring in the semi finals and finals with both hard drives to the hoop and long range three-pointers.

All-Stars awards were given out to Josh Roux and Landon Pomeranz of the Falcons. Roux brought the fans to their feet throughout the weekend throwing down several vicious dunks and Pomeranz led the Falcons in three-point shooting and played lock down defence. Clutch moment of the tournament went to Grade 9 player Trask Lenz who came off the bench in the finals in the fourth quarter and hit back-to-back three-pointers to seal the game. The Falcons pulled off the victory in front of a packed house of Falcon fans on Saturday night.

Key contributions came from every player on the team throughout the tournament but coach Kyle Graves said special shout-outs go to Grade 9 PG Darius Parsons, and Grade 10 guards Alex Brezsinski and Carlo Rouvray – "together, they have helped lead the team this season to a 16-4 record and a huge tournament win!" he said.

Next up for the Falcons is The North Shore Jr. Invitational this weekend in North Vancouver against top 15 competition.

Graves said the team gives "a huge thank you" to all the staff, parents, leadership students, and fans who supported the team, as well as sponsors Jason Sandhu Realty, P3 Muscle & Joint Cream, Hampton Inn by Hilton Chilliwack, and Valley Water.
