Five athletes from Chilliwack competed in Curl BC's provincial Mixed Doubles Championships in their hometown.
The event ran Jan. 2-5 at Chilliwack Curling Club featuring locals Tyler Jones, Emma Les, Regan Taylor, Ryan Taylor and Sarah Wark.
Wark, along with teammate Troy Cowan of Crofton, B.C., was the only Chilliwack curler to win any matches during the event. The other two local teams – Team Taylor (Regan and Ryan Taylor) and Team Jones/Les (Tyler Jones and Emma Les) – each lost their three matches, pushing them out of the competition on Friday (Jan. 3).
Wark and Cowan lost their first two games, but then went on to win their next four. They were out of the championships when they lost 4-7 to Samantha Fisher and Jared Kolomaya in the quarterfinals on Jan. 5.
The championship was won by CJ Jackson and Matthew McCrady, qualifying them for the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, to be held March 16-21 in Summerside, P.E.I.
