The Chilliwack Riding Club has its Gymkhana on April 27, 2025 at Chilliwack Heritage Park.

A 90-year-old equestrian club in Chilliwack is inviting folks to come out and watch their event this weekend.

The Chilliwack Riding Club is hosting its Gymkhana on Sunday, April 27 at Chilliwack Heritage Park.

People can see speed competitions like barrel racing, pole bending and more at the event which runs inside the barns on Floor 3, from 10 a.m. until about 2 p.m., said club president Barb Bodholdt.

The club has been around since 1935 and is one of the longest running horse clubs in B.C.

"We were started to bring like-minded people together, improve horsemanship, help establish trails in the area and to come together in competitions to have fun," Bodholdt said.

A lot of the members are generational competitors with grandparents and grandchildren still actively involved.

With the start of a new youth leadership program, the club wants kids to learn lifelong skills to help them with their futures, Bodholdt added.

"We really support and encourage the youth in the area as well as beginners. We are very happy to say we have a large leadline class where our future is building."

The Chilliwack Riding Club also holds trail rides and is involved with the Chilliwack Fair.
