The 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris are officially underway with thousands of athletes from all over the world competing.

Chilliwack’s Zachary Clay is representing Team Canada as a member of the men’s Artistic Gymnastics team and was in action on Monday (July 29) for the men’s team final.

Clay took part in the team’s fifth rotation, participating in his specialty event the pommel horse, where he garnered the fourth best individual score in the event on the day, being awarded a 14.133.

Despite the effort, the Canadians were only able to finish an admirable eighth place in the final as Japan secured the gold medal with China and the U.S. taking silver and bronze respectively.

Clay is just one of three Chilliwack athletes representing Canada at this year’s Summer Games with Jordyn Huitema (soccer) and Rowan Hamilton (hammer throw) both also in Paris.
