The Chilliwack Basketball Association's U10 Boys won the 2024 Remembrance Day tournament in Langley.

The Chilliwack Basketball Association has had a great fall season, with wins at both the Fraser Valley Fall Club Championships and a Remembrance Day tournament in Langley.

The championships were presented by local club at Rosedale Middle and Yarrow Elementary, Nov 15 - 17. The three-day event brought together 17 teams for 28 games, with hundreds of passionate fans to cheer them on. The tournament showcased top talent from across the region, with four divisions in play.

The championship games saw intense competition, culminating in the crowning of four tournament winners. The Chilliwack Basketball Association took the title for U11 Boys, U13 Boys and the U14 Boys, while BC Bounce Abby won in the U12 Girls championship game.

This year’s event marks the second time Chilliwack has hosted a club tournament, and organizers say they are already looking forward to bringing even more basketball action to the community in the spring.

And then earlier this season, the local squad also dominated the Primetime Sports Remembrance Day Jamboree in Langley. The U10 Boys went 3 - 0, winning the championship.

The eight players on the team, comprised of Grade 4 players, worked together as a team all weekend and defeated a previous Gold Division Champion from Abbotsford. They defeated Split Second Vancouver 74-28, Spotters Vancouver 56-24 and Venom Abbotsford 52-47.

These young ballers are Chilliwack's youngest club basketball team, and continue to play for each other and are learning how to compete at a high level against teams from all over B.C. The team previously went 4-0 at the Drive Fall Classic to win the Tournament Championship in Richmond at the beginning of November.

Coach Kyle Graves says the team has been practicing twice a week and have "bought in working as a team and improving as individuals."

The team is still looking for players in grades 4 or 5 to join the team this fall and in the spring. Contact Chilliwack Basketball at chilliwackbasketball@gmail.com and check out their website at chilliwackbasketball.ca.
