Darik Olson has committed to playing for the Chilliwack Chiefs in the 2025-26 BCHL season.

The Chilliwack Chiefs have announced another commitment, with Darik Olson joining the team in the 2025-26 BCHL season.

Olson, a 2006-born defender, will join the Chiefs after the conclusion of his time playing at the Northstar Christian Academy. The Chiefs say they have had some great recruits come through this program in the past, like Brian Morse and current Chief Caleb Elfering.

The announcement said that this season Olson has put up some great numbers with 36 points in 35 games played to go along with 54 penalty minutes.

“Darik brings good size, range, and mobility to our defensive group going into next season and we are really happy to add him to our lineup," said Brian Maloney, Chiefs head coach and GM. "We feel he is just scratching the surface in terms of his potential as a player."

Olson, from Duluth, MN, is equally excited to join the Chiefs.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of such a reputable organization like Chilliwack," he said. "I can’t wait to get to work and play in front of the best fans in the BCHL.”

The Chiefs are still sitting at the top of the Coastal Conference, and this weekend the BCHL turns its attention to its All-Star Weekend in Salmon Arm. Several Chiefs players are taking part in the weekend's events. Mateo Mrsic will be there for the skills competition, for agility/passing.

Sebastian Gatto will be in goal for the Top Prospects game, while Caleb Malhotra and Brady Milburn will play forward.

Maloney will be stepping in to coach the Coastal Conference team.

The Chiefs are back in action on Jan. 24 in Coquitlam, and back on home ice on Jan. 25 to host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
